Frequently asked questions

How long does a property sale take in Jamaica?

Many sales complete within about 90 days of signing the Agreement for Sale, but the timeline depends on mortgage approval, the state of the title and how quickly taxes and documents are processed. We will give you a realistic timeline at the start.

What costs should I budget for when buying property?

Besides the purchase price, buyers usually pay their share of stamp duty and registration fees, their attorney’s fees, and mortgage-related costs if they are borrowing. Sellers usually pay transfer tax. We will set out the costs for your transaction before you commit.

Can you help if I live overseas?

Yes. Many of our clients live abroad. Documents can usually be signed before a notary or Jamaican consular officer overseas and sent to us, so you may not need to travel.
